TOKOU, KOUVI, OUNI

In her recent project, Bess develops a modular fastening system that rethinks how clothing is constructed and experienced. The system has evolved into a small object family, Tokou, Kouvi and Ouni, each element playing a distinct role within a shared fastening logic. Designed to remain integrated in the garment rather than functioning as a temporary dressing aid, the elements support flexibility, adaptability, and user independence. Inspired by fungal networks and mycelial structures, organisms that connect and sustain complex systems beneath the surface,
the project approaches clothing as an interconnected ecology. The fastenings become visible, sculptural agents within the garment, exploring dress as an evolving and relational structure rather than a fixed form.
